SUPPORTING OUR COMMUNITY Teachers is committed to serving the needs of our members, teammates, and communities. Fueled by our guiding principle to Build a Strong Community, we focus our time, energy, and resources to support causes that promote education, human services, economic development, and research. CHARITABLE GIVING Teachers has made a significant impact on our members’ lives through philanthropy, charitable giving, and partnerships with non-profit organizations across the country. In 2022, Teachers supported non-profit organizations such as Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, Island Harvest, ALS Ride For Life, Habitat For Humanity, and The Tunnel to Towers Foundation, to name a few. In tandem with corporate charitable giving initiatives, Teachers also has a matching charitable gift program for employees, providing teammates with the ability to request a match of their personal donation to an eligible charitable organization, up to $250.00 per year. In 2022, Teachers continued its support of The American Cancer Society, raising more than $120,000 as the first-ever presenting sponsor for the American Cancer Society Making Strides of Long Island Walk. This walk is the largest Making Strides event in the country, with approximately 65,000 people in attendance. More than 300 Teachers employees participated in the event, and hundreds more helped fundraise, enabling the American Cancer Society to reach its fundraising goal of $2.1 million. Teachers is proud to continue these efforts, and more, in 2023. We know our members are passionate about making a difference in the community, and concluded our giving efforts in 2022 by asking for their input. Our “Season of Giving” campaign allowed Teachers to donate $50,000 to three non-profit organizations, of which the designations were voted on and selected by our membership. After a week-long vote, our members chose to donate $25,000 to the Wounded Warrior Project, $15,000 to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, and $10,000 to Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. 110+ Volunteer events supporting 100 different organizations
